The Supply Chain Coordinator will report to the Supply Chain Manager and will primarily be responsible for overseeing and facilitating the supply chain operations by coordinating processes to achieve the effective distribution of goods. This position requires freight forwarding operations experience, excellent organizational, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to multi-task along with the knowledge in supply management principles and practices in a fast-paced, high-pressure operations environment while positively contributing to the success of the team. 

The ideal candidate will be located in the Nashville, TN area and have the ability to work onsite at customer’s location.

  • Serving as the customer service liaison between the Company and the customer specific to brokerage and FTZ functions
  • Processing daily FTZ transactions for transmittal to Customs including CBP Form 214 Admissions, CBP Form 7512 in-bonds, CBP Form 216 Annual and individual permits, CBP Form 349 Harbor Maintenance Fee
  • Coordinating all PGA (participating government agency) information
  • Opening files, enters notes, information and document requests in CargoWise and/or the Foreign-Trade Zone system
  • Invoicing and manifesting information entered into the FTZ System and CargoWise and submit invoice packets weekly to the customer
  • Sending information/document requests to customer as needed for PMD product master information
  • Communicating with specified government agencies, customer, carriers, and operations on all issues affecting Customs brokerage and FTZ
  • Filing document requests, corresponding and documenting in a file folder identified by the applicable admission number
  • Ensuring compliance with regard to U.S. Government regulatory agencies such as FDA, EPA, FCC, Fish & Wildlife, etc.
  • Coordinating shipping details with U.S. Forwarders, Steamship Lines, Airlines, Agents, etc.
  • Converting and verifying shipment weight, volume and foreign currency
  • Maintaining communication with customers, carriers and vendors
  • Working with operations and forwarders on in-bond moves into and out of the FTZ
  • Assisting customers with questions, complaints, requests, tracking and tracing
  • Handling accounting processes accurately and in a timely manner
  • Coordinating internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Developing a detailed project plan to track progress including transportation
  • Coordinating shipments from airline, ocean piers and CFS (container freight station) to the FTZ and exports from the FTZ to the airline, ocean piers and CFS
  • Reviewing documentation or issuing documents to meet government regulations and carrier regulations
  • Must have knowledge of FTZ regulations and bring operational exceptions to the attention of the Operations Manager – Customs Brokerage, FTZ
  • Ensuring email and telephone calls are promptly and politely answered
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the Manager

Preferred Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

Previous Work Experience

  • Experience in domestic and international supply chain management, including but not limited to import and export operations, warehouse and inventory management, production and manufacturing planning in auto industry or an equivalent combination of both education and experience

Education and Certifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency; Post-secondary education preferred
  • Ability to obtain Certification for Dangerous Goods

Experience Requirements and Preferences

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills that demonstrate a proven ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external customers
  • 2nd language Chinese, Japanese or Spanish is preferred
  • Intermediate to advance skills in Microsoft applications
  • WMS, SAP, Cargowise or other OS experience is required
  • Experience with Inventory Management and SAP
  • Possess strong data entry, travel organization and customer service and reporting skills
  • Proven leadership capabilities
  • Understanding of supply chain business type and structure of the automotive and manufacturing industries is preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours depending on business needs
  • Excellent teamwork including with other departments/vendors and a high level of customer service skills
  • Demonstrated experience interacting, developing and maintaining customer relationships
  • Ability to pass all TSA background requirements

Work Environment

Ninety-five percent of work time will be spent in an office setting where the environment is climate controlled.  Five percent of work time may be spent in various warehouse or other locations where the environment is not climate controlled (hot and cold seasonally).
