Summary

Second shift position. Hours are from 3:30pm to midnight.

The Warehouse Assistant Manager reports to the LOGISTEED-America, Inc. Deputy General Manager. 

This position requires excellent leadership skills along with the ability to monitor workflow in a fast-paced distribution operation, to oversee coaching and counseling of supervisors, and associates and have the ability to mentor and lead a diverse team to success.  Additionally, including but not limited to: 

  • Must be able to communicate and interact with Senior Company Management and Customers in a productive and professional manner
  • Lead daily operations team resulting in successful results that are reflected in established key performance indicators (KPIs).  
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by established target inventory discrepancy ratio
  • Read and comprehend SOP’s, work instructions, email and documents; measure and count accurately; write legibly
  • Follow established procedures and meet or exceed safety, quality and productivity standards

  • Analyze and improve organizational process and workflow, employee and space requirements, and equipment layout; implement changes

  • Manage staff levels, wages, hours, contract labor to revenues
  • Responsible for all department supervisors, with review/approval responsibility for all operations employees
  • Run a safe, injury/accident free workplace
  • Responsible for all aspects of vehicle and heavy equipment rentals
  • Establish contracts and pricing and ensuring proper maintenance and serving as primary liaison with utilities and local government agencies, such as fire, police, health, and safety agencies
  • Manage relationships with key operations vendors
  • Track vendor pricing, rebates, and service levels
  • Review and approve all operational invoices and ensure they are submitted for payment
  • Create monthly invoice and the supporting documents
  • Maintain daily/monthly productivity report for upper management
  • Serve as secondary point of contact when there are customer issues related to equipment quality, customer service, or accidents and mishaps on-site. In particular, this includes any issues on-site at client facilities, such as breaking a fence or tape residue on flooring
  • Communicate customer issues with operations team and devise ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints
  • Work closely with Manager, GM and management team to set and/or implement policies, procedures, and systems and to follow through with implementation.
  • Communicate all operating policies and/or issues at department meetings
  • Work closely with the inventory manager and team to perform analysis of our inventory and ensure we are utilizing our inventory effectively, purchasing the right equipment, maintaining solid inventory data, and reduce sub-rental expenses
  • Communicate with legal counsel and safety department to ensure all processes remain compliant with OSHA health and safety regulations and other governmental regulations

  • Review labor needs based on daily, weekly and monthly schedules 
  • Working with all departments, share labor and cross train as required for business needs
  • Identifying labor needs, interviewing, monitor employee attendance, counsel, coach and administer corrective actions as necessary 
  • Directing, supervising, evaluating, training, and developing employees 
  • Managing employee interaction that includes: employee development, one on one coaching, walking through area during assigned shift, conflict resolution among associates, associates group meetings and trainings.
  • Ensuring associates have appropriate tools to perform their assigned duties
  • Communicating effectively both with management and their team
  • Auditing all operations to ensure processes are followed according to standard work sheet
  • Collecting of data and reporting of established KPIs, quality reports, audits, financial reporting, material handling equipment reports, site or individual performance tracking and customer required reports
  • Managing the Gemba Kanri program within their assigned area of control
  • Managing all assigned material and equipment
  • Identifying process improvement, cost savings, and implement changes to achieve them
  • Creating, entering data and managing Microsoft Word and Excel programs
  • Performing other duties as assigned by Manager
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. 
  • Ability to travel if needed for business necessity 
  • Maintain the security and safety of the warehouse and distribution
  • Develop and maintain WMS
  • Assist the Deputy General Manager in the successful and timely flow of production
  • Oversee the warehouse in the absence of the Deputy General Manager
  • Search for opportunities to improve efficiencies in operations so as to improve customer service
  • Count or verify freight for accuracy and/or damage and infestation
  • May perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing and repacking for shipments as needed
  • Train and supervise warehouse operations 
  • Investigate and plan the most appropriate route for a shipment, taking into account the nature of the goods, cost, transit time and security
  • Assist in the negotiation of contracts, transportation and handling costs 
  • Obtain, check and/or prepare all transportation documentation to meet Customs and insurance requirements, packing specifications, and compliance with local and international regulations
  • Liaise with third parties to move goods (by road, rail, air or sea) in accordance with customer requirements
  • Work closely with customers, colleagues and third parties to ensure smooth operations to deadlines 
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations and other factors that could affect the movement of freight
  • Manage multiple customers across the globe coordinating shipments between multiple carriers and modes of transportation
  • Assist in new business development

Preferred Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

Previous Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 year fast-paced logistics industry or manufacturing environment experience, automotive preferred
  • 2 years supervisor experience

  Education and Certifications  

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Equivalent work experience will be considered

Experience Requirements and Preferences  

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel – Preferred

Twenty percent of work time may be spent in various warehouse or other locations where the environment is not climate controlled (hot and cold seasonally). Eighty percent of work time may be spent in office.
